Students will continue to explore the perceptions of graphic art and design and its influence in a contemporary age becoming increasingly visual in its communication. This course focuses on portfolio development by refining skills and mastering design tools. In addition, students will experiment with traditional and contemporary forms of typography, iconography, illustration and design approaches to communicate personal perceptions. They will analyze how visual communication influences understanding of and responses to the world. Writing, academic language, and critical thinking skills are developed through artist statements, critiques, and the close reading of artworks as text.
