Students with an exceptionally high interest, ability, and preparation in guitar will learn to create, perform, and respond to guitar music in a variety of styles/genres. Students will learn and develop advanced guitar skills, including augmented an diminished chords; major, minor, and blues scales in all positions; and advanced strumming, picking, finger style, and soloing technique. Cultural, historical, personal, and social contexts are studied as they relate to guitar repertoire. Students develop effective practice habits so they will be able to progress independently. This course satisfies the fine arts graduation requirement and may be repeated unlimited times for credit.
